Telemedicine saves life of young Pemón from Bolívar state, Venezuela

16 Years young Pemón saves his life by the diagnosis he received via telemedicine at the rural clinic located in Uriman, Gran Sabana, Bolivar state, Venezuela. He arrived to the rural clinic with a severe abdominal pain and a palpable abdominal mass. Given the seriousness of the young man and the need of a second medical opinion from an specialty physician, Dr. Ruben Pereira sent via internet the history of the patient and received a diagnosis from one of the most prestigious physicians in Caracas of a deadly portal hypertension who requested an urgent surgery that lasted more than 8 hours. The patient transportation and surgery was coordinated remotely and was a total success.
